Akrotiri and Oia

Akrotiri and Oia

5-hour private tour of the highlights of Santorini

This tour will allow you to spend adequate time in both the highlights of the island.

Santorini has a long history starting, according to the up to nowadays research, about 7000 years ago and the most important settlement of the time is Akrotiri.

The volcanic debris that covered it during the eruption of the 17th century BC sealed the settlement and preserved it in a perfect condition for about 3600 years. The excavation that is still carried out revealed a brilliant civilization with technology advanced in all aspects and especially in construction: multi-storey houses, decorated with avant-garde frescoes and equipped with a very advanced sewage network and all these. . . during the Bronze Age! Follow us on a journey to this incredible era and allow yourselves to "meet" the society that reached this high level of achievements approximately 3600 years ago!

Architecture is also a domain of interest with the cubic minimalistic houses perching on the top of the volcanic rocks creating a harmonic architectural complex, offering a pleasure for the eye and the soul. Oia is the most picturesque of the villages, with stunning panoramic views of the whole caldera and the volcano. During our visit you will have plenty of time to see the famous blue domes, walk around the picturesque cobbled and marble-paved streets, have lunch or a drink or some time for shopping.

As we will be driving from the north to the south you will have the chance to explore the complex morphology of the volcanic island, learn about the modern way of life and what formed the current social and economic status, study the unique characteristics of viticulture and agriculture and get a general overview of the life on the island.
